Did you know that every year we award two scholarships to local high school seniors that are bound for OU? That's $1,000 that help them buy books, pay lab fees, cover some tuition or pay for housing. In this economy $1,000 could be quite a lot!
Each year, we select the most deserving seniors based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, leadership, and articulation of goals and plans. We learn all of this through our scholarship application process which includes:
- A personal statement about their achievements, goals, interests, concerns and expectations for the future.
- A list of honors they have received and extracurricular activities, community service and leadership positions they have held.
- A description of their financial need. While not the only factor we take into consideration, for some students it is dependent on which academic institution they attend.
- Upto three personal recommendations from teachers, youth leaders, employers, or anyone who can best speak on the applicant's behalf.
