Oklahoma vs. Louisiana-Monroe
Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m
They're giving away 1,000 student shirts.
The Sporting News' Mike DeCourcy offered a nice writeup on sophomore Willie Warren Saturday night after OU's season-opening victory. Began DeCourcy, "Oklahoma guard Willie Warren has long since established that those who labeled him as a selfish player while in high school had gotten it all wrong. But just in case there were any lingering doubts, he posted this stat line in the opening game of what should be an All-America season for him: 15 points, 11 assists. Yes, during the summer, Warren apparently went all Bobby Hurley on us." Click here to read the rest.

Three conference players of the year and the defending winner headline the list of finalists for the 2009 Naismith Men's College Player of the Year Award presented by AT&T, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Sunday. Oklahoma's Blake Griffin, the top player in the Big 12, Pittsburgh's DeJuan Blair and Connecticut's Hasheem Thabeet, the Big East Co-Players of the Year, and North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough make up the final ballot.
The winner will be named at the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Guardians of the Game awards program on Sunday, April 5 in Detroit.
The finalists were voted on by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors, comprised of leading basketball journalists, coaches and administrators from around the country. The board based its criteria on player performances this season. The vote was tabulated and certified by the accounting firm of Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, LLP.
"The finalists have enjoyed outstanding individual successes while leading their respective schools to tremendous seasons," said Gary Stokan, Atlanta Tipoff Club president. "That underscores the meaning of a true leader, something that is inherent in the Naismith Trophy."

BLAKE GRIFFIN is hearing voices. At least he's trying to. As a December wind howls outside, the sophomore power forward sits in a folding chair at the edge of Oklahoma's practice floor, squinting in concentration, trying to conjure villainy. After a moment, his voice changes from his usual low conversational murmur, and he is suddenly the Joker in the movie The Dark Knight. "Do you want to know how I got my scars?" he asks menacingly. "My father was a drinker, and a fiend." You can practically see the smeared red-and-white clown makeup on the late Heath Ledger's face, and the knife glinting in his hand.
The next moment it's summer in Beijing, and as Griffin does Michael Phelps marveling over his new-found popularity—"I got on Facebook and I had, like, 4,000 friend requests and I was like, Wow, that's really crazy!"—you could swear you had just caught a whiff of chlorine.
Griffin's repertoire includes his teammates and coaches too. When he's not borrowing their voices, he's borrowing their stuff. He delights in relocating the contents of a locker and then sitting back to see how long it takes his victim to notice. "One day I saw him wearing this hat and I said, 'Hey, I have a hat just like that!'" recalls freshman guard Willie Warren. "Of course, it was my hat he was wearing."
Griffin's older brother, Taylor, a senior forward for the Sooners, says two words sum up his sibling: aggressive and goofy. It's not a combination seen at the top of the NBA draft board very often, but it's likely to be this June, because Griffin, a 6'10", 250-pound banger, can do impressions of well-known people on the court too. One Eastern Conference scout, who calls Griffin "the best player in the draft," says that he has "the quickness of Amaré Stoudemire and the strength of Carlos Boozer."

ABC announced today that it will televise nationally the Oklahoma-Texas Tech football game from Norman on Nov. 22. The network has set kickoff time for 7 p.m.
The visiting Red Raiders are No. 2 in the current BCS standings, while Oklahoma is No. 5. This will mark the first time since 2000 when Nebraska visited that a team ranked in the top five and a team ranked higher than OU played at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The Huskers were No. 1 and the Sooners No. 3 heading into that game, which OU won, 31-14.
The last time Texas Tech visited Oklahoma for a game of significant post-season implications was the 2002 game when the two were battling for shares of the Big 12 South Division crown. Oklahoma prevailed, 60-15, and went on to win the conference title with a 29-7 victory over Colorado in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship Game at Houston.
The OU-Tech game will mark the 81st consecutive Sooner game on television.
Also on Nov. 22, the nationally ranked OU men's basketball team will host Gardner-Webb at 1 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center.

At least two Oklahoma athletes were injured during a brawl at a local nightclub that police said involved guns, knives and tire irons.
Details were immediately unclear, but the university characterized the players as victims in the early Sunday incident at the Sooner Knights club in southwest Norman.
“I’m not commenting. There was an incident where a couple of our athletes overall were assaulted. Outside of that, there’s an ongoing investigation, so until we know more, I’m not going to confirm or not confirm anything,” Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops said Monday after practice.
Norman police said they went to the nightclub at 2:32 a.m. Sunday, about four hours after fourth-ranked Oklahoma beat Chattanooga 57-2 in its season opener, after “numerous calls to the police department reported subjects fighting with knives, guns and tire irons.” Police reported two people had been stabbed and a third had been hit by a car.
One arrest was made: Terran Jason McCabe, 27, was booked for carrying a concealed weapon and released on bail Sunday.
Norman Regional Hospital spokeswoman Brenda Finkle told The Oklahoma Daily student newspaper that freshman defensive end Frank Alexander was treated and released Sunday. The newspaper also cited “multiple student sources” in reporting that freshman basketball guard Ray Willis was injured in the altercation.
“The health concerns for all of those involved obviously take precedence over everything else at this point. We understand that the outlook is good,” Stoops said. “We certainly will encourage anyone with knowledge of this event to assist in the investigation.”
Capel thanked students and medical personnel for their assistance “and the police who are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
“We are most concerned about the recovery of those who were injured. Our desire is to assist law enforcement authorities in their investigation. While the details are still emerging, indications are that those who were injured were victims of assault,” Castiglione said.

Kansas and Texas are the only other conference schools that will have all of their games on television.
